Rooted in Creativity and Community: The Heart Behind Mulberry Market Co.

Rooted in Creativity and Community: The Heart Behind Mulberry Market Co.

If you ask Hannah, the owner and creative force behind Mulberry Market Co., when she first decided to open a store, she’ll tell you there was never a single “aha” moment. Instead, it was something that simply grew — naturally, beautifully, and with a lot of heart.

It all began with a few farmers market booths — small but filled with charm and intention. Those weekend markets turned into vendor events, and eventually, what started as a side passion blossomed into something much bigger. Soon, Hannah was hosting monthly markets out of an outbuilding on her families Michigan farm. What began as a holiday pop-up quickly became a beloved community gathering. For four years, families wandered the farm each month, shopping handmade goods, sipping cider, and experiencing the warm sense of belonging that now defines everything Mulberry Market Co. stands for.

When Hannah moved to Washington, she thought that chapter might be closing. The plan was to sell the business, but when the sale fell through and she stumbled across the charming building that now houses Mulberry Market Co., it felt like fate had stepped in. “I had missed connecting with customers and creating beautiful displays,” she says. “Running things from afar had become all computer work and no creativity. Having the store here in Washington has truly reignited my passion and brought me so much joy again.”

That passion radiates through every corner of the shop — from the thoughtfully curated displays to the inviting energy that greets you at the door. Behind every candle, every workshop, and every seasonal vignette is Hannah’s love for creativity, connection, and the simple beauty of making people feel at home.

Outside the shop, life looks a little different but just as full of adventure. Hannah and David love spending time outdoors with their cat, Beans — whether it’s dirt biking, snowmobiling, or exploring Washington’s scenic backroads. It’s in those quiet moments, surrounded by nature, that she often finds inspiration for the shop.

As for what’s next, Hannah’s dreams for Mulberry Market Co. are both ambitious and deeply personal. In the short term, her goal is to purchase the building — a milestone that would open the door to even bigger possibilities. Long term, she envisions transforming the current workshop space into a cozy coffee shop and café, giving guests a place to linger and connect even more. A full property refresh, new parking, and a fresh coat of paint are all part of the dream — a reflection of how much heart she continues to pour into the space.

Right now, though, she’s soaking in the excitement of watching everything come together. Workshops are thriving, the team is growing, and the shop has recently celebrated two record-breaking sales months. “This year has been wild — in the best way,” she says. “It feels like everything is clicking. There have been growing pains, but it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come.”

At its core, Mulberry Market Co. has always been about more than shopping. It’s about creativity, community, and connection — about finding inspiration in the small details and feeling a sense of home in a space built with love.

Hannah sums it up simply: “We’re a small but mighty team that pours our hearts into everything we do. From the workshops to the curated collections, everything is designed to make people feel inspired and connected.”

And that’s exactly what makes Mulberry Market Co. so special — it’s not just a store. It’s a story still being written, one that welcomes everyone who walks through its doors to be part of it.
